Boromtrilokanat Community Mall is located on the narrow site perpendicular to Phutarabucha road and Boromtrilokanat  road. Considering the location of the site, the design of this community mall is based on the concept of “CONNECTIVITY”.

The concept has been further categorized as follow:

1.       Form to form connection

2.       Form to site connection

3.       Site to people connection

4.       People to people connection.

Form to form connection

There are fundamentally three basic forms. Two of the forms lie longitudinally along the site and the third one lie perpendicular to other two. The third form act as a connector.

Form to site connection

Form to site connection is established through the orientation of the building along the narrow strip of the site. The shape of the building is essentially rectangular with few oblique lines to create some contrast to an overall design.

Site to people connection

This is one of the most important conceptual considerations in the design process.  The overall design has its aim to attract as much peoples attraction as possible. This is enabled through the arrangement of many spaces for the multipurpose area and the plazas.

Site to site connection

This one is almost similar to the above concept. But this one include the physical connection between the site and the surrounding. For example it can be noticed that there are some flying stairs at the entry and at the back as well. This type of design ideas create the place the real connectivity between the main building and its surrounding and then the people of the occupants.

PROGRRAM ANALYSIS

With the increasing increasing housing problems and lack of available residential spaces, it has called for an efficient use of space. The concept of this apartment is based on Jigsaw Puzzle. Jigsaw puzzle has many interesting characteristic related to architecture. Namely, visual emphasis, shapes and forms, repeatation, interlocking and form to form relationship. Based on these ideas, the apartment building is designed with the numbers of piece of shapes to form the visually beautiful structure and spatially aesthetic environment.

Coop Himmelb(l)au (1968-) is a cooperative architectural design firm primarily located in Vienna, Austria and which now also maintains offices in Los Angeles, United States and Guadalajara, Mexico. The firm’s name Himmelblau translates from German into English as ‘sky blue’, Himmelbau translates to ‘heaven construction’. The term Coop in the title is pronounced as is the business abbreviation for cooperative, co-op.

Coop Himmelblau was founded by Wolf Prix, Helmut Swiczinsky and Michael Holzer and gained international acclaim alongside Peter Eisenman, Zaha Hadid, Frank Gehry with the 1988 exhibition, “Deconstructivist Architecture” at the Museum of Modern Art. Their work ranges from commercial buildings to residential projects.

Oscar Ribeiro de Almeida Niemeyer Soares Filho (born December 15, 1907) is a Brazilian architect specializing in international modern architecture. He is a pioneer in exploring the formal possibilities of reinforced concrete solely for their aesthetic impact.

His buildings are often characterized by being spacious and exposed, mixing volumes and empty space to create unconventional patterns and often propped up by pilotis. Both lauded and criticized for being a “sculptor of monuments” he has been praised for being a great artist and one of the greatest architects of his generation by his supporters. His works include public buildings designed for the city of Brasília, and the United Nations Headquarters in New York City (with others).

Steven Holl (born December 9, 1947, Bremerton, Washington) is an American architect and watercolorist, perhaps best known for the 1998Kiasma Contemporary Art Museum in Helsinki, Finland, the 2003 Simmons Hall at MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the celebrated 2007 Bloch Building addition to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, Missouri, and the praised 2009 Linked Hybrid mixed-usecomplex in Beijing, China.

Herzog & de Meuron Architekten, BSA/SIA/ETH (HdM) is a Swiss architecture firm, founded and headquartered in Basel,Switzerland in 1978. The careers of founders and senior partners Jacques Herzog (born 19 April 1950), and Pierre de Meuron(born 8 May 1950), closely paralleled one another, with both attending the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zürich. They are perhaps best known for their conversion of the giant Bankside Power Station in London to the new home of the Tate Modern. Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron have been visiting professors at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design since 1994 and professors at ETH Zürich since 1999.
In 2001, Herzog & de Meuron were awarded the Pritzker Prize, the highest of honours in architecture. Jury chairman J. Carter Brown, commented, “One is hard put to think of any architects in history that have addressed the integument of architecture with greater imagination and virtuosity.” This in reference to HdM’s innovative use of exterior materials and treatments, such assilkscreened glass. Architecture critic and Pritzker juror Ada Louise Huxtable summarized HdM’s approach concisely: “They refine the traditions of modernism to elemental simplicity, while transforming materials and surfaces through the exploration of new treatments and techniques.” In 2006, the New York Times Magazine called them “one of the most admired architecture firms in the world.”
HdM’s early works were reductivist pieces of modernity that registered on the same level as the minimalist art of Donald Judd. However, their recent work at Prada Tokyo, the Barcelona Forum Building and the Beijing National Stadium for the 2008 Olympic Games, suggest a changing attitude.
HdM’s commitment of articulation through materiality is a common thread through all their projects. Their formal gestures have generally progressed from the purist simplicity of rectangular forms to more complex and dynamic geometries. The architects often cite Joseph Beuys as an enduring artistic inspiration and collaborate with different artists on each architectural project. Their success can be attributed to their skills in revealing unfamiliar or unknown relationships by utilizing innovative materials.

Hadid was born in 1950 in Baghdad, Iraq. She received a degree in mathematics from the American University of Beirut before moving to study at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London. After graduating she worked with her former teachers, Rem Koolhaas andElia Zenghelis at the Office for Metropolitan Architecture, becoming a partner in 1977. It was with Koolhaas that she met the engineer Peter Rice who gave her support and encouragement early on, at a time when her work seemed difficult to build. In 1980 she established her own London-based practice. During the 1980s she also taught at the Architectural Association. She has also taught at prestigious institutions around the world; she held the Kenzo Tange Chair at the Graduate School of Design, Harvard University, the Sullivan Chair at the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Architecture, guest professorships at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Hamburg, the Knowlton School of Architecture, at The Ohio State University, the Masters Studio at Columbia University, New York and the Eero Saarinen Visiting Professor of Architectural Design at the Yale School of Architecturein New Haven, Connecticut. In addition, she was made Honorary Member of theAmerican Academy of Arts and Letters and an Honorary Fellow of the American Institute of Architects.She has been on the Board of Trustees of The Architecture Foundation. She is currently Professor at the University of Applied Arts Vienna in Austria.

Renzo Piano (born 14 September 1937) is a world renowned Italian architect and recipient of the Pritzker Architecture Prize, AIA Gold Medal, Kyoto Prize and the Sonning Prize. One admirer said the “serenity of his best buildings can almost make you believe that we live in a civilized world”.

Frank Owen Gehry, CC (born Frank Owen Goldberg; February 28, 1929) is a Canadian-American Pritzker Prize-winning architectbased in Los Angeles, California.
His buildings, including his private residence, have become tourist attractions. His works are often cited as being among the most important works of contemporary architecture in the 2010 World Architecture Survey, which led Vanity Fair to label him as “the most important architect of our age”.
Gehry’s best-known works include the titanium-covered Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain; MIT Stata Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts; Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles; Experience Music Project in Seattle; Weisman Art MuseuminMinneapolis; Dancing House in Prague; the Vitra Design Museum and MARTa Museumin Germany; and the Art Gallery of Ontario inToronto. But it was his private residence in Santa Monica, California, which jump-started his career, lifting it from the status of “paper architecture” – a phenomenon that many famous architects have experienced in their formative decades through experimentation almost exclusively on paper before receiving their first major commission in later years.
